M Rules

In memoriam

Michael Hauser

(1942—2021)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder, Michael Hauser.

In 1993, Mike was operating M Rules out of his flat with just two Apple Mac SEs. He grew the company over 28 years with dedication and determination. All those who knew him will remember him as a very kind, honourable, and intelligent man. Mike was a fountain of knowledge and frequently brought brownies and other sweet treats into the office for his staff. M Rules now continues under those he trained and worked alongside.

Mike moved to London in 1964 as part of an exodus of Australians to the UK. As a publisher’s Production Editor, he learned to do cryptic crosswords while waiting for the return of proofs. He found the work enjoyable, moving into production and later made the cross over into typesetting before starting M Rules.

His favourite book was The Ambassadors by Henry James.
